The main features of the station upgrade at Sydenham include:
- new station entrances at Burrows Road and Railway Parade
- new concourse over the station with lifts and stairs to each platform, including the two new Sydney Metro platforms
- easy interchange for passengers between Sydney Trains and Sydney Metro services
- improved interchange for bus customers.
